Ask Steve – EP 6 – Why am I not getting and ad response ?
Hello everybody! Steve here from Recruitment School and welcome to another episode of Ask Steve.
Today we have a question from Nicky who is in Melbourne. Nicky has asked the question, I am not getting any ad response on my ads. How do I fix that?
Great! This is coming up all the time. It’s almost like you don’t listen to the other videos listen to the other videos. The ones that I’ve already done and that would tell you exactly what I’m about to tell you again, Nicky. And that is don’t rely on the job boards. If you have a post and pray recruitment strategy that is you post the ad and you pray that somebody applies it’s not always going to work. it’ll work for a lot of the time but we get lulled into this sense of security that everything’s gonna be okay because we’re just putting that up and everything, everything will be there. They’ll be there. It’s like the field of dreams movie if you build it they will come. Well, it’s not the case we know that you of dreams movie if you build it they will come. Well, it’s not the case we know that you put an ad up these days. You get 150 people to apply and there’s 149 of them that are put an ad up these days. You get 150 people to apply and there’s 149 of them that are put an ad up these days. You get 150 people to apply and there’s 149 of them that are not suitable and then you try and call the one person cause it’s taking you two weeks to get through the hundred and fifty applications. You try and call the one person who is suitable they’re not calling you back. So you gotta start the process again and you get the same 149 people who apply saying. I’ll give it another go and there’s probably one other now and you still miss them because it takes you so long to get through.
This is the problem we have with job boards now. What they’ve also done is they’ve made you lazy. They’ve made me lazy as a candidate. Everybody’s lazy now in recruitment. They just post a post a job and let it go see how it goes. It doesn’t work like that. As I said in the other videos you have to drive traffic, you have to drive traffic to your ads. You’ve got a database. It’s an applicant tracking system with I don’t know how many people in it thousands and thousands and thousands of people. Make sure you data is clean. And then sort the data and send a message to them and say. Hey, looking for someone to fill this role now. Here’s the link to the ad please go and check it out. At least you’re driving traffic then to the job board. Make sense?
